- When sizing for a gun belt PLEASE measure using a cloth measuring tape and measure just below your waist and right above your hips, approximately where the belt will rest on you. Also take into consideration if you want to wear your belt straight or at a slant. The size of the belt measures from the top of the buckle to about the middle hole of the belt – 6 holes to the belt. One suggestion is choosing a size that is 4 to 6 inches larger than your pants size.
